Re: Alte Familien von Elm (Emigration nach Amerika)
Old (citizens since before 1800) families of Elm are: Bäbler, Disch, Elmer, Freitag, Freuler, Hauser, Kubli, Marti, Rhyner, Schneider, Stauffacher, Zentner. This covers many of the names you have mentioned - in some cases this tells you the correct spelling in Switzerland.
There are some names of families who are not Elm citizens: this doesn't mean they didn't live there; if they did, they may well have been listed as coming from Elm.
Giger are Engi citizens - also from the Sernf Valley. There are two books on Sernftal families - by Baumgartner and Heer. The links lead to translations into English.
Zweifel were a very important family in canton Glarus - with several citizenships since before 1800.
Pfeiffer are citizens of Mollis GL.
This leaves Hoesley, Eisley and Wooster: not Swiss names, but somewhat "anglicised". If we stick to families from canton Glarus, potential original spellings will likely be Hösli and Iseli - but I am at a loss for Wooster (you may have to search in other cantons for this one).
