Ergänzung und Zusammenfassung siehe unten.
From the 1889 marriage record of Albert Gottlieb Sonderegger (born 31 January, 1863), his parents were Johannes Ulrich Sonderegger and Anna Magdalena Rohner. Albert Gottlieb Sonderegger was born at Marbach in St. Gallen, but was living in Oberegg when he decided to marry. He married Louisa Ida Germann of Eppishausen-Erlen in Thurgau. She was born to Joseph Anton Germann and Maria Barbara Dudler (third wife to Joseph) 18 August, 1868 at Hauptwil-Gottshaus in Thurgau.
Anna Magdalena Rohner was described by her son Albert as, the last wife of his father, "Ulrich" (Johannes Ulrich). Ulrich was described as "one of about 30 children of his own father." Albert named his parents and said a few things about them to his children. The fourth daughter of Albert was my husband's grandmother who, with her sisters, prepared a partial family tree for their own children. This tree, and some notes with the tree, were based on what the children of Albert heard from their parents. Albert's children said that Albert's father died in 1886 and Ida's father died in either 1886 or 1887. I believe Albert's father died earlier than what his children remembered and he is, possibly, the Hans Ulrich Sonderegger of Balgach born in 1803, who died in 1884, and whose first wife was Anna Torgler. Albert told his children he had at least one brother named Jacob, and two sisters named Sophia and Lydia. He said a brother, Jacob?, became a cheese-maker and died in 1894. His sister Lydia died in 1904. I do not know if she ever married.
Albert told a gruesome story about the death of his father Ulrich Sonderegger. Albert said his father owned a factory, but did not say what was made in the factory. Ulrich was somewhat wealthy and some evenings like to dine and drink at a restaurant and walk home. One winter evening when Ulrich was in the restaurant, it began snowing heavily and grew very cold. Visibility was also very bad, as a result of the heavy snow. Albert's father, Ulrich walked home as he usually did, and fell and hit his head, or fell asleep, on railroad tracks. Ulrich was then hit by a train and killed.
Is this family familiar to anyone and can anyone tell me how many times Hans Ulrich Sonderegger was married and who the rest of his children were? Can anyone tell me if the story of the death of Ulrich Sonderegger is true? Did Ulrich Sonderegger die without a will? Were their lawsuits over the inheritances and the factory ownership or management? What did Ulrich Sonderegger's factory make?
What was the birth date and marriage date, and birth place and marriage place, of Anna Magdalena Rohner and who were her parents?
Any help filling in the gaps and extending the tree backward for these families is greatly appreciated.
